Read the remembrance with its sources
How do we distinguish a documented memorial tradition from an unsupported quote or statistic?
Start with a person or tradition, then follow its linked university record. The explorer connects seven topics for learning; it is not an official archive or a chronological reconstruction.
The original page’s ESPN quotations, locker-room attribution and 65,975 impressions have no authenticated source in this review. That number remains explicitly unverified. Source accounts differ in detail; attributed rescue estimates should not become a precise audited total.
Try a worked example
Follow Lacrosse to Red Bandanna Game: BC’s 2012 article describes number 19 being awarded to a senior leader, while its 2026 chronology traces the tribute to 2011 and annual games to 2014. Those are different kinds of remembrance. A number awarded to a player should not be described as retired.
Keep dates and program context attached
BC’s 2011 remembrance calls Crowther a varsity lacrosse player during his undergraduate years. Its 2012 article describes the then-current men’s club team and the number 19 senior-leader tradition. Preserve those dates rather than treating the two program descriptions as a current roster claim. BC Chronicle: 2011 remembrance BC Chronicle: 2012 lacrosse remembrance
Attribute rescue accounts carefully
BC’s 2022 police tribute credits Crowther with saving as many as 18 lives. The 2011 remembrance describes more than a dozen survivors and an injured woman carried down 17 floors. The difference is a reason to retain attribution and avoid the original “18+ documented” claim. BC: Police Red Bandana tribute BC Chronicle: 2011 remembrance
A memorial game is not a social transcript
BC Athletics records a 28–21 win over Rutgers on September 11, 2026. Its game recap does not establish a separate locker-room quotation or social-media reach. The original page’s ESPN statements and 65,975 impressions remain unverified here. BC Athletics: September 2026 Rutgers recap
BC’s memorial list records 22 alumni and includes Welles Crowther. That is a different, documented count; it should not be grouped with an unsourced engagement figure as if both had the same evidence. BC: Memorial Labyrinth alumni list
Use the graph and export without overreading them
Choose any of the seven entities in the selector or activate a graph node with Enter or Space. Filters dim nonmatching topics and may change the selected entity. Re-center restores the view and reheats the layout while retaining selection and filter. Source links follow the selected record.
Node sizes, forces and link distances are layout settings, not quantities about lives or influence. Export contains the selected entity, explanatory metric labels, primary-source links and verification limits. It includes the unverified legacy count separately. If the graph library is unavailable, the selector, filters, source notes and JSON export remain available.
