Original typographic direction card connecting an image review to a revision note

For creative direction, use Miro to discuss material on a board, Figma to comment in a design file and Frame.io V4 to organize media-review feedback. Choose the tool that keeps feedback attached to the work your team is actually producing.

Choose the place where decisions happen

This shortlist compares documented review capabilities. It does not claim independent product testing or quantified improvements in approval speed.

Miro

The official comments guide describes comment threads on a board and resolving discussions. Consider it when a direction needs conversation across multiple references and ideas.

Check: board access rights, the information visible to guests and how you will record a final decision separately from open discussion.

A board discussion is useful for alignment, but does not itself prove that a client approved production.

Figma

Figma’s comments guide explains commenting within design files. Consider it when feedback needs to remain close to an interface or design artifact rather than being copied into a separate document.

Check: the reviewer’s actual file access, notifications and the team’s rule for closing a comment after a revision.

Distinguish discussion in a file from your contractual approval and source-file handoff requirements.

Frame.io V4

The current V4 comments-panel guide describes timecode ordering, marking feedback complete and comment exports. Consider it for review conversations connected to video and other media assets.

Check: your actual V4 account’s review access, permissions, supported exports and the version being reviewed.

This comparison uses V4 documentation and does not assume that older Frame.io interfaces have the same behavior.

Recommendations are editorial judgments about workflow fit. Prices and subscription entitlements are not quoted. Verify the chosen account’s permissions and capabilities using a representative review before committing.

Make a revision note precise

Upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP image, or use the original demo. Click the image to place the next numbered note. Enter the requested change, responsible role and review status. Native canvas draws the image and numbered markers; jsPDF produces a real review document from your current image and notes.

Markers use coordinates relative to the image. The keyboard-accessible button adds a note at its center; each note’s X/Y percentages can be edited precisely. Notes are human-entered review instructions, not automatic visual analysis.

Images and notes remain in this tab; no upload or automatic persistence occurs. JSON contains the image as an embedded PNG for restoration, so keep exported files private when they include private work. Reloading clears the review. Large images and PDF exports can consume browser memory. PDF uses a built-in Latin font; use JSON to preserve text that needs another writing system. This tool annotates still images; it does not review video timecodes, synchronize a team or certify approval.

Direct the change, not just the reaction

Connect to the brief

Explain which audience, message or deliverable constraint the requested change supports. “Make it stronger” gives the maker little direction. A concrete request can be evaluated against the brief.

Keep versions explicit

Name the asset version being reviewed and attach notes to that version. A resolved note means the reviewer’s requested change was addressed; it should not be confused with final production approval.

Name the decision owner

Assign a role responsible for revising the work and one person responsible for resolving conflicting feedback. Record which issues remain open before starting a new revision.

A useful review question

What should the audience understand first, and which part of the work supports that?

Turn the review into a handoff

A useful revision note connects a visible location, a clear request, a responsible role and the reason behind the change. Keep the next version understandable to the person making it.

What goes into the export?

The PNG contains the current image and numbered markers. The PDF contains that annotated image, the review title, version and all current notes. JSON preserves the image and editable note data. Coordinates and statuses reflect the current fields; notes with missing required text or invalid coordinates block export.

What does “resolved” mean here?

It is a label you choose for a note. This local review does not verify that a change was implemented, notify an owner or replace a formal sign-off. Include approval requirements in your own workflow.
