📐 Galton-Watson Branching Process

In classical stochastic population biology, each generation reproduces according to an independent, identically distributed random offspring count X ~ P(k). When the effective net reproduction rate R = μ × s > 1, the branching process is supercritical, leaving a positive probability of lineage immortality.

The extinction probability q satisfies the fixed-point generating relation q = G(q) = ∑ P(k) q^k.

🌍 Swahili Coast Diaspora Networks

Historical Indian Ocean kinship systems (connecting Zanzibar, Yemen's Hadhramaut, and the Persian Gulf) historically blended localized clan stability with cross-continental trade nodes. When members relocated into diaspora hubs (e.g. North America), spatial exogamy reduced inbreeding coefficients (F) while distributing lineage branches across distinct economic risk jurisdictions.

🧬 Polygynous Variance & Lineage Persistence

Polygynous marriage structures increase the variance of male reproductive success (σ²) while expanding total cohort capacity per patriarchal founder. Overdispersed negative binomial offspring distributions model high variance, where certain founding branches explode while other sibling lineages experience stochastic termination.
