Morphological match: Messor cephalotes (Giant African Harvester Ant). Claustral chamber test-tube configuration identified inside non-conductive speaker casing.
Ecological Significance: Kenya's Harvester Queens
Messor cephalotes queens are the largest harvester ants on Earth (~25mm–30mm). Post-rain nuptial flights produce single founding queens critical for arid grassland seed dispersal (myrmecochory), subterranean soil aeration, and nutrient recycling. Removing fertile queens halts colony succession across hundreds of square kilometers.
