Use the fee rule that applies

A percentage is incomplete without the amount it applies to. Verify your marketplace's actual fee rules before trusting a resale margin comparison.

Put it into practice

Check the account and category

Marketplace fees can depend on category, account status and other current terms. Use the official fee documentation for the sale you are modeling rather than copying a rate from an old article or another seller's example.

Choose the matching basis

This tool supports item-only and item-plus-buyer-shipping percentage bases. If your actual rules include additional elements, account for them explicitly in your own calculation or costs; do not pretend these two options cover every policy.

Retain fixed charges and costs

Enter fixed sale fees, postage and packing as well as the percentage. Review whether a tax-related or other charge is included in your own inputs. A fee-basis change can alter profit even though the sale price and the acquisition cost stay the same.

A worked example

At a 10% entered rate, adding five units of buyer-paid shipping to the percentage basis adds half a unit of fee. That is arithmetic for the stated example, not a claim about any marketplace's current rate.

Resale price and time sensitivity comparison

A resale decision can look attractive at one optimistic price and weak at a lower price or longer holding time. Enter several price-and-time scenarios with your actual costs and fee assumptions to compare the cash outcome side by side.

Selling time is an assumption you provide, not a market forecast. Profit per assumed day is simple division and does not represent a recurring daily income. Return on item cost excludes labor and any cost you did not enter.

Inputs are processed in this page. Nothing is submitted to the app or a business. Download a result to keep it; this page does not automatically save your work.

What to keep in mind

This page does not fetch sold listings or know your marketplace's current fees. Enter the actual fee basis and rates from your account. Tax, returns and your time are separate costs unless you include them.
